Appointments

Appointments can be booked by telephone, calling in during normal working hours or booking online (see reception). You will be registered with one particular Doctor but you can see whichever Doctor you choose, as long as he/she is available.

CHANGES TO APPOINTMENT SYSTEM (from 1.6.11)

1. All our Doctors appointments will be pre-bookable up to 4 weeks ahead. There will be NO on the day routine appointments.

2. For medically urgent appointments, needed on the same day that you call, an appointment will be booked with the Duty Doctor at Coltishall. This may not be with the doctor of your choice.

3. All other Doctors appointments can be pre-booked.

4. If you wish to see a particular GP you will be offered the first available appointment within the next 4 weeks.

These changes will make MORE pre-bookable appointments available to our patients.

We hope that these changes will lead to an improved service to our patients. Thank you

ROUTINE CONSULTATIONS

For routine consultations such as medication reviews, follow up appointments or the doctor asks to see you regularly, appointments can be booked up to four weeks in advance either with reception or online. It would be helpful if you could telephone after 10.30 for these appointments.

Pre-bookable appointments are also available from 7am on some days, these appointments are to help people who work and are having difficulting getting to the surgery in normal surgery hours (please contact reception for details).

MINOR ILLNESS or MINOR INJURIES

Our Nurse Practitioner can see and prescribe for both adults with ailments such as sore throats, cough, earache, conjunctivitis, urine infections, cystitis, vaginal discharge/ thrush, emergency contraception, rashes/insect bites, diarrhoea and vomiting, any minor injury and sinusitis.

ONLINE APPOINTMENTS

To make an appointment on line you will need to register at the Reception at Coltishall Surgery. Then you will be given a Practice ID and Access ID number. You will then need to make up your own password and enter these details into the Online services page called EMIS ACCESS, before you are able to make an appointment on line. Only some clinicians are availble for online appointments at present. To access online services please click the online appts/prescriptions button at the top of the page.You must cancel an appointment if you no longer require it. Failing to cancel an appointment for any reason will result in you being deregistered from online services. Please do not book medicals via the online system as they require more time than the usual appointment.

Please remember a nurse or phlebotomist may be able to see you rather than a Doctor. Please ring for an appointment if you feel these appointments may be appropriate for you.

HOW TO

Ask at reception for the registration forms to complete. It is extremely helpful to have your NHS number as this helps us obtain your medical record electronically from your previous surgery.
